Summerville police seek suspect in bank robbery

Summerville police asked for help identifying a man accused of robbing South Carolina Federal Credit Union, 9999 Dorchester Road, on June 7.

Summerville police this morning asked for help identifying a man accused of robbing a bank.

A man dressed in a camouflage shirt, a baseball hat and sunglasses walked into South Carolina Federal Credit Union, 9999 Dorchester Road, and demanded cash, Summerville police Capt. Jon Rogers said. The incident happened about 9:15 a.m., he said.

The man did not present a weapon, but said he was armed, police said. No one was injured during the robbery, according to Rogers.

Police described the suspect as a black man, 5 feet, 6 inches with a medium build.

The bank will remain closed until 1 p.m., officials said.
