Summerville man out of jail in sex assault case arrested on child porn charges

James Lester Shaw

A Summerville man out of jail on bail after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint in North Charleston now faces child pornography charges.

James Lester Shaw, 26, of Pine Bluff Drive was arrested Tuesday night by North Charleston police on 15 counts of third-degree criminal sexual exploitation of a minor. The warrants were based on images of child porn police said they found on his computer after he was arrested in the sex assault, according to incident reports.

In that earlier case, a woman told police that she went to Shaw’s apartment in North Charleston after a date in June 2014. She said he pulled off her pants, drew a gun and tried to sexually assault her, the reports stated. He was jailed on counts of kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct and released on $300,000 bail.

At the time, police obtained a search warrant and seized Shaw’s computer, which led to his latest charges, according to the reports.
