The St. John's Fire District and other Lowcountry fire departments are collecting donations for the citizens and emergency workers hit last week by a devastating tornado in Moore, Okla.

St. John's Fire Battalion Chief James Ghi said local residents can donate emergency supplies from May 28 until June 7 at the following locations:

  • St. John's Fire and Rescue Stations
  • City of Charleston Fire Stations
  • Dorchester County Fire
  • Ashley River Fire Department
  • Edisto Beach Fire Department
  • Colleton County Fire Rescue
  • Charleston County Rescue

Penske of Summerville provided a truck that will deliver the donations to the International Association of Fire Fighters in Tulsa, Okla., on June 7, Ghi said.

The items that are needed the most are listed below:

  • Bottled water
  • Baby formula
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Dog/puppy food
  • Diaper wipes
  • Non-perishable items
  • Clothes (various sizes)
  • Cat/kitten food
  • Diapers-all sizes
  • Household cleaner
  • Canned goods

Monetary donations should be made directly to the American Red Cross, Ghi said.
