St. John’s firefighters will start putting reflective numbers on properties around the district so they can find fires more quickly.
The effort is supported by a $5,000 grant from Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of South Carolina.
More than 40 percent of the district’s service area is rural, and many homes are poorly marked, Capt. James Ghi said in an announcement today. The new numbers will go on houses, mailbox posts, fence posts and other visible locations.
The program will kick off with a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at the department headquarters at 3327 Maybank Highway.
