SLED: Man broke into Norway police station, stole shotgun

NORWAY, S.C. — State agents say a 22-year-old man broke into the police station in Norway and stole a shotgun and police radio.

The State Law Enforcement Division said Jamairre Singleton was arrested last week and charged with second-degree burglary.

Authorities say Singleton broke in March 24 through a window to Town Hall, which also contains the Orangeburg County town’s police headquarters. They say the office was ransacked and wiring was ripped.

SLED says several other items were stolen along with the shotgun and police radio, but they were not detailed in an arrest warrant. Agents also didn’t say what evidence led them to arrest Singleton.

Singleton faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
