Six arrested in Charleston East Side drug sweep

A drug crackdown on Charleston's East Side last week netted six arrests, according to police.

The Aug. 21-23 drug sweep on America and South streets followed tips by residents, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Montay Harley, 25, of Corley Drive in North Charleston was charged with three counts of distribution of heroin and was being held Wednesday in the Charleston County jail on $750,000 bail.

Delano McPherson, 26, of Chestnut Street in North Charleston was charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine base and was being held on $300,000 bail.

Joshua Smalls, 19, of Nassau Street, Davonte Reid, 19, of Suffolk Street in North Charleston and Brian Wilson, 24, of Amherst Street were charged with distribution of cocaine base and were each being held on $250,000 bail.

Antonio Murphy, 23, of Judith Street was charged with distribution of cocaine base and was being held on $150,000 bail.
