Sheriff’s deputies investigating shooting at Ladson Road nightclub

Charleston County sheriff's deputies charged Dubois Scott (left), 34, and Game Room owner Christopher Harris, 38, with unlawful storage of alcohol following a shooting at the night club on June 12.

The owner and manager of a Ladson nightclub are facing legal trouble after sheriff’s deputies accused the establishment of serving alcohol without a liquor license prior to a shooting this week.

A man was critically wounded when gunshots rang out at the Game Room, 3792 Ladson Road, about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.

Deputies found the man inside the nightclub, having taken a bullet to the abdomen, Brady said. The wounded man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, he said.

Brady did not identify the man on Wednesday.

Bottles of liquor were being stored at the club, even though the venue was not permitted to sell or store the alcohol, Brady said.

The club is housed in a plaza near the Jamison Road intersection. Its surrounding neighbors include a Food Lion grocery story, Family Dollar, and multiple churches.

Deputies arrested Christopher Harris, 38, of Tribeca Court, and Dubois Scott, 34, of Corabell Ave. in North Charleston, and charged them with unlawful storage of alcohol, jail records show.

Harris is the Game Room’s owner and Scott served as the club’s doorman and manager, Brady said.

Both men were held at the Charleston County jail on Wednesday and are expected to have a bond hearing Thursday, Brady said.

Investigators recovered a vehicle in the parking lot that had been riddled with bullets, according to deputies. Several shell casings were found near the front door of the business, Brady said.

Deputies questioned Scott, a stocky man wearing a tank top, and ushered him out of the club in handcuffs about 8:30 a.m.

A suspect has not yet been identified in Wednesday’s shooting.

Deputies investigated another shooting at the club in December. A man fired into the club from its doorway on Dec. 20.

Several fights led to shots being fired that night, deputies said. Two people received minor injuries from the assaults, and a third person was taken to Summerville Medical Center with two gunshot wounds to the hip, deputies said.
