Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon was selected to participate in the FBI’s National Executive Institute, the Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.
The leadership training program is held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., and will meet for one week in March, June and September, according to a news release.
“This is an excellent opportunity to interact with some of the brightest minds in law enforcement from here in the United States and from foreign countries,” Cannon said in the release. “I am excited about being selected and sharing my experience with my organization and the law enforcement community in Charleston County.”
The program provides training in multiple areas, including political, economic and social trends, ethics and integrity, the effects of affirmative action on hiring, promotion policies and media relations.
More than 1,300 law enforcement executives have graduated from the program, the release said, including approximately 200 FBI personnel.
