Sex trafficking survivor to speak in Charleston

Holly Austin Smith

A survivor of human trafficking will speak at a luncheon in Charleston next week.

The luncheon is at noon May 13 at the Country Club of Charleston at One Country Club Drive. It’s organized by the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased on the center’s website at dnlcc.org.

The speaker will be Holly Austin Smith of Richmond, Va., author of “Walking Prey: How America’s Youth Are Vulnerable to Sex Slavery,” which was published last year. She was enticed into selling herself for money at age 14, according to her biography.
