Severe storms expected in the Lowcountry until 9:15 p.m., National Weather Service reports

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties until 9:15 p.m.

Storm systems with 60 mph winds were reportedly in the Bluffton area shortly before 8 p.m. and moving east at 35 mph, according to the Weather Service.

Damage to roofs, siding and trees are possible.

Areas that could impacted by the storms are Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Hilton Head Island, Goose Creek and Hanahan.

Nearly 2,500 SCE&G customers were reportedly without power 8:30 p.m. in the tri-county area, according to the company.
