Second man arrested in shooting death on Charleston peninsula

Montrelle Lamont Campbell, 34, of Purdue Avenue in North Charleston

Charleston police on Monday arrested a second man in connection with a September shooting death at a peninsula apartment.

Montrelle Lamont Campbell, 34, of Purdue Avenue in North Charleston faces a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder in the Sept. 19 death of Antwan Lamont Frost, 32.

Trivell Donte Lamar Richardson, 30, of Raymond Avenue in North Charleston had been jailed in early October on the same charges.

Investigators from the Charleston Police Department had been looking for Campbell since Richardson’s arrest. The officers and members of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force found him Monday morning at an apartment on Ashley River Road, police spokesman Charles Francis said in a statement.

The police have said that the shooting may have been linked to an assault during a Sept. 18 party at 36A Norman St.

Early the next day, Frost, a Line Street resident and Bay Street Biergarten cook, went to visit someone at the home and was shot during some sort of altercation, his family has said. Two women also were wounded.
