Second arrest made in case of man severely beaten in Berkeley County

Terrante Dawson is charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.

A second suspect has been arrested after a man was severely beaten Sunday while trying to help a friend, according to officials.

Terrante Dawson, age unavailable, of Harbour Lake Drive in Goose Creek is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Ferrell Avis Crockett, 30, of the same address was arrested earlier in the week on the same charge.

Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies found the 21-year-old victim outside a house on Plainfield Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the incident report.

The victim’s friend had recently moved out of the residence and returned to talk to an ex-girlfriend, Maj. David Bradham previously said. The friend got into a fight with three men on the porch and the victim tried to intervene but was beaten and stomped in the street.

He was taken to the hospital with multiple facial and skull fractures, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On Wednesday, the man’s father said he was improving and had moved out of intensive care.

His current condition was not available.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 719-4424.
