SANTEE, S.C. (AP) — Cotton growers across South Carolina are gathering for their annual meeting.
The South Carolina Cotton Growers meeting is being held Monday in Santee.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1xUsvkv) that the event includes a talk by Don Shurley of the University of Georgia. He will provide a forecast for the cotton crop and prices for 2015. The event’s sponsors are Clemson and the South Carolina Cotton Board.
The state Agriculture Department reports that cotton is the fourth most-valuable agricultural commodity in South Carolina after broilers, turkeys and greenhouse nursery products.
