Registration is still open for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office's Summer Deputy Camp for children.

The camp is scheduled to run July 14-18 and is for children ages 8 to 12, according to sheriff's spokesman Dan Moon.

Only 50 slots are available and a parental consent and registration forms are required as well as a $75 payment, Moon said. Checks and money orders can be made payable to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit.

Planned activities include a forensics program, hunting and fishing simulators, K-9 demonstrations and first-aid training.

Parents are asked to drop off their children at the Berkeley County Emergency Services Training Center, 474 Reid Hill Road, at 8:30 a.m. for camp, Moon said. Pick up is at 4:15 p.m. and lunch will be provided, he said.

Registration ends June 30. For more information, call Sgt. Jimmie Ross Jr., at 719-4713 or 723-3800 ext. 4713.
