Red Cross hosts 13th annual Clemson, Carolina ‘blood battle’

The American Red Cross is hosting the 13th annual Lowcountry Carolina vs. Clemson blood battle.

The American Red Cross will pit Clemson and South Carolina fans against each other to see which side donates the most blood before the big football game.

The blood drive starts Monday and runs through Nov. 25.

“The drive comes at the start of the holiday season when blood donations typically decline,” the Red Cross explained in a press release. “Donors will help ensure blood is available when patients need it during the holiday period.”

Blood donations may be made at the American Red Cross West Ashley Blood Donation Center, 2000 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., or the American Red Cross Mount Pleasant Blood Donation Center, 920 Houston Northcutt Blvd.

Both locations are open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday; and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Donors will receive a free “blood battle” T-shirt.
