American Red Cross volunteers are assisting a family of four after a fire damaged a North Charleston home this morning.

North Charleston firefighters were dispatched about 4:42 a.m. to a home on Pinoca Lane, spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said.

The home is less than half a mile from Pepperhill Elementary School.

Crews reported seeing light smoke coming from under the home, she said.

The home only sustained minor damage and no one was injured, Sancic said.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation, she said.
