Police to showcase motorcycle skills in weekend competition

Law enforcement officers will get a chance to showcase their motorcycle skills this weekend.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the 10th annual police motorcycle training seminar beginning Wednesday and lasting through Saturday.

The event allows officers to show off the ability it takes to operate a police motorcycle with rider safety in mind, according to a Monday media release.

It will be held in parking lot E of the North Charleston Coliseum, off of International Boulevard. Bostic Law Firm and Low Country Harley-Davidson are sponsors of the event.

Fifty riders from several states will be highlighted. Charleston County sheriff’s motor officers will compete in the event, along with riders from Charleston County EMS.

There will be practice Wednesday and the opening and closing ceremony for the competition will be Saturday, the release states. The public is invited to attend and any proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Happy Days and Carolina C.O.P.S.
