Police: Talcum powder found in suspicious letter sent to U.S. Attorney’s Office

Talcum powder was found Wednesday in a suspicious letter sent to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, according to Charleston police.

The letter was received about 3:15 p.m. at the office at 151 Meeting Street and it was reported just before 9:15 p.m. that the powdery substance it contained was talcum powder, according to police spokesman Charles Francis.

The Charleston Fire Department Hazmat Team and officers investigated the incident.
