HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — South Carolina state police say a Georgia couple stole nearly $2 million from a car dealership in Hardeeville.
Arrest warrants from the State Law Enforcement Division say 54-year-old Deanne Ogden and her 56-year-old husband David stole the money for seven years from O.C. Welch Ford Lincoln.
Police say Deanne Ogden was the assistant comptroller for the company and juggled the books to get checks written to what appeared to be legitimate parts vendors, but were instead cashed by her husband to pay their credit card bills.
SLED says the couple stolen $1.9 million.
Deanne Ogden was charged with nine counts of breach of trust and David Ogden is charged with three counts of receiving stolen goods.
It wasn’t known if the couple from Jesup, Georgia, had a lawyer.
