Police: Drug paraphernalia seized along with bomb-making materials in North Charleston home

Darrell Michael Leone of North Charleston was arrested Tuesday after police said they found bomb-making materials and drugs in his house.

Police have released more details after nine people were arrested Tuesday when officers said they found materials to make bombs and drugs in a North Charleston house.

A North Charleston police officer saw Darrell Michael Leone, 51, sitting on his porch at 8009 Old London Road about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday and questioned him about reports that somebody was making bombs in the house, according to the incident report. Leone led the officer through the house, where the officer reported seeing hypodermic needles lying in plain view and material to make methamphetamine in the garage.

The officer also reported seeing several people sitting in the living room and lying on beds in the house, with drug paraphernalia nearby.

Also in the garage were materials to make bombs, including roadside flares, matches, Drano, sulfuric acid, Clorox, PVC, play dough and BBs, according to the report. The officer said one of the PVC pipes was already wrapped in play dough with BBs imbedded in it.

The Charleston County bomb squad was called in, and the neighborhood off Greenridge Road was evacuated for several hours.

Leone told a detective he wasn't making a bomb but wanted to show one of the women he could blow things up, according to the report. He was charged with possession or threat to use a destructive device, possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of narcotics and neglect of a child, since a 4-year-old was in the house.

Michele Rene Smith, 31, of Austin Circle of Goose Creek, the mother of the child, was charged with possession with intent to distribute meth and ill treatment of a child.

Shara Dawne Greene, 25, of West Surrey Drive in North Charleston was charged with possession with intent to distribute meth and possession of the crystal meth.

Lawson Russell Mosley Jr., 31, of Slow Mill Drive in Goose Creek, Sybil Taylor Arnold, 19, of Burnt Mills Road in Goose Creek,

Roxan Rebekah Fant, 21, of Parsonage Point Drive in Charleston, Clarence James Pugh, 32, of Creola Road in North Charleston, Daniel Evanda Johnston, 32, of Woodstock Drive in Mount Pleasant and Julie Amanda Faulling, 24, of Thorpe Drive in Moncks Corner were all charged with possession with intent to distribute meth.

The Department of Social Services was called, and Smith's mother took custody of the child, according to the report.

All those arrested were being held in the Charleston County jail on Wednesday. Bail ranged between $100,000 to $400,000 with Leone getting the highest amount.
