A pleasant day is in store for Charleston today, but it's going to get a lot colder later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Today's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, a high near 59, a north wind of 9 to 11 mph and an overnight low around 38 degrees.

Tuesday will be even nicer, with sunny skies, a high near 65 and an overnight low around 40.

The cold front moves in Wednesday night. The daytime forecast calls for sunshine and a high near 56, but the overnight low will be around 22 degrees, according to the weather service. That's well below the normal low of 37 degrees for the date but short of the record of 10 degrees set in 1982.

Thursday's high is expected to be only 37 degrees, under sunny skies, with an overnight low around 24.

Friday should be sunny, with a high near 48 and overnight low around 32.
