CHARLESTON – Conservative political activist Phyllis Schlafly is scheduled to speak to a class at The Citadel.

Schlafly is slated to speak Wednesday to a class called the Conservative Intellectual Tradition in America at the Charleston military school.

Schlafly started a national organization called the Eagle Forum 40 years ago. The organization worked to block passage of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Schlafly has been named one of the 100 most important women of the 20th century by Ladies’ Home Journal.
