Charleston police on Saturday charged a man with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in the city’s East Side Community.

Edward Jackson, 58, of America Street faces an additional charge of possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The arrest was made in connection with a stabbing around 5 p.m. at 59 America St., Francis said. The victim was transported to Medical University Hospital for treatment, he said.

Further details about the incident were not released Saturday night.
