1 person injured in vehicle fire on James Island

One person was taken to the hospital Sunday after a vehicle fire on James Island.

Emergency personnel responded to the blaze on Oakcrest Drive and discovered a boat and SUV involved. The fire was quickly extinguished and the victim was taken to the hospital with burn injuries, according to Chief Charleston Fire Marshal Michael Julazadeh.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation but it started when fuel was being transferred from the boat to the SUV he said.
