7 people displaced after duplex fire in West Ashley

Seven people were displaced after a duplex structure fire in West Ashley, according to the Charleston Fire Department.

Firefighters responded just after 6:15 p.m. to the blaze on Old Parsonage Road, which is located off of Ashley River Road.

Spokesman Ryan Kunitzer said the fire was contained to one side of the duplex. One resident was taken to an area hospital for a medical issue unrelated to the fire, he said.

The American Red Cross responded to assist displaced residents.
