Participants in Patriots Point’s summer educational camp on Friday will attempt to break the world record set by June summer camp participants for the longest line of shoes on an aircraft carrier flight deck.

On June 15, participants at the naval and maritime museum’s first summer camp set the record with 1,027 shoes stretched across the World War II-era aircraft carrier Yorktown’s 888-foot flight deck.

Goodwill Industries is once again loaning 500 shoes to the effort, but the public can participate as well.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., admission will be granted at no charge for members of the public who bring clothing or household goods to donate to the Goodwill.
