DALZELL, S.C. — A Sumter County landowner says his flock of goats has been decimated by a pack of dogs that has killed more than two dozen in recent weeks.
The Sumter Item reports that Harold Johnson of Dalzell says the dogs struck early Monday, killing 11 goats. He was able to capture part of the attack on a deer camera.
Johnson is a retired Sumter police chief and says the dogs struck twice last month, one time killing more than a dozen goats which are worth between $100 and $200 each.
The field is protected by a 5-foot fence but the dogs seem to jump it.
Johnson says he’s driven around looking for the pack. He says they are big healthy dogs and someone must know something about them.
