Orangeburg County investigators are looking for vandals who caused extensive damage to Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School overnight.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said about 20 classrooms were damaged between Sunday night and Monday morning. The intruders also removed electronics, he said.
“In an abundance of caution, we worked with district officials to close school today to collect evidence and repair damages in advance of class resuming tomorrow,” Ravenell said.
Police learned of the breach when a fire alarm went off at 3:31 a.m., Ravenell said. Nearly two dozen law enforcement officers are at the school today looking for clues, he said.
