One person taken to hospital after fire at Joseph Floyd Manor, according to officials

Charleston firefighters extinguished a blaze at the Joseph Floyd Manor building.

One person was taken to the hospital Monday after a fire at the Joseph Floyd Manor building in Charleston, according to the Charleston Fire Department.

That person’s condition and the extent of the fire was not known Monday night. Spokesman Ryan Kunitzer said firefighters responded to heavy smoke reported on the 10th floor of the building and extinguished a fire. The department tweeted about it just after 5:30 p.m.

No other information was released.
