A man was treated and released at the scene of a fire in Charleston on Thursday night after attempting to extinguish the flames.
Charleston Fire and Rescue was called to 21 Allway Street at 7:55 p.m. and when they arrived, there was smoke showing from the back of the residence. No one was home at the time and a fire in one of the bedrooms was extinguished within about 15 minutes, according to Deputy Chief John Tippett.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal Division. Tippett said the fire was contained to the one room, but that the house sustained heat damage.
St. Andrews Fire Department and Charleston County EMS assisted at the scene.
