Firefighters responded to small fire this morning in North Charleston, according to officials. The fire triggered an extinguishing system used in the commercial building on Virginia Avenue, according to fire marshal Cindy Killette.

The release of the chemicals used to extinguish the fire and the system itself triggers a Hazmat alarm, but Killette said no one was exposed to any dangerous materials.

“There was not (a) hazmat spill,” Killette said.

The property did not sustain any damage due to the fire and no one was injured, according to Killette.
