SALEM — Oconee County rescuers have found the body of a boater who disappeared after his kayak capsized on Lake Jocassee.

Oconee County Fire Chief Charles King said rescuers found the man’s body this morning. Authorities didn’t release the man’s name because they’re still notifying family members.

King said a husband and wife were together when their small kayak capsized Saturday. Although both wore life jackets, the husband was unable to swim. The two lost contact about 10 minutes after they were thrown into the water.

King said it took the woman an hour to swim to shore and several hours more to flag down other boaters for help.
