The city of North Charleston is looking for pieces of its history.
To increase the archival collection, the city is asking for donations or loans of maps, photographs, documents, and publications that pertain to the area’s history.
The North Charleston Archives and History Committee, formed in 2010, has worked to establish a City History and Archive Room in North Charleston City Hall, 2500 City Hall Lane in North Charleston.
Items will be collected beginning March 2.
Anyone interested in donating or loaning items is asked to contact the Cultural Arts Department at 843-740-5854 or cultural firstname.lastname@example.org. Office hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Items can be donated or photographed/scanned and returned to the owner.
In addition, existing archives items will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from March 2 to March 31 in the lobby of North Charleston City Hall.
