North Charleston police searching for man after bank robbery

Police released this image of a man handing a bank teller a note demanding money Monday at First Citizen Bank on Ashley Phosphate Road.

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating a bank robbery.

A black male entered the First Citizen Bank shortly before 5 p.m. Monday at 2170 Ashley Phosphate Rd., and presented a note to a teller demanding money, according to police department spokesman Spencer Pryor.

No weapons was used during the robbery. The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash and was last seen crossing Ashley Phosphate Road toward Dunlap Street.

He is described as between 5-feet-5-inches and 5-feet-8-inches, 250 to 300 pounds with a very muscular build. He was last seen wearing black pants, white shirt, sunglasses and a construction type “dust mask” on his face.
