North Charleston police investigating report of shots fired

Police are investigating a shooting that wounded a man Friday in North Charleston.

The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Marietta Street, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The street is less than a mile east of Rivers Avenue and about a mile south of Aviation Avenue.

One man was wounded in his right leg, Pryor said. A witness reported seeing the victim attempting to get into a vehicle shortly before the gunfire, police said.

The shots reportedly came from a blue Pacifica that was seen in the area, police said.

The victim was transported to Medical University for treatment.

A suspect was not identified Friday night. The shooting remains under investigation, Pryor said.
