North Charleston police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a string of convenience store robberies, authorities said.

Jerry Ernest Ballard of Hunters Ridge Road is charged with at least six robberies in the city since May 28. Information obtained during the investigation led to identifying Ballard as a suspect, said police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

Ballard is charged with three counts of armed robbery; three counts of attempted armed robbery; six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; and one count of attempted murder. Ballard also might be responsible for robberies in Charleston and Goose Creek. North Charleston Investigators are working with the two agencies.

Ballard is expected to appear in Charleston County bond court at 2 p.m. Thursday. The investigation continues and additional arrests are possible.
