North Charleston man with criminal record charged after woman beaten

A North Charelston man is in jail again after police said he beat and kicked a woman Saturday morning.

William Thaddeus Graham , 34, whose last known address was on O’Hear Avenue, is charged with first-degree assault and battery.

Graham’s criminal record includes convictions for kidnapping, first-degree assault and battery, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to Charleston County court records.

North Charleston police were called to 4020 O’Hear Ave. about 8 a.m. Saturday after a woman said she saw a man standing over a woman, kicking and punching her in the face, head and upper body, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

The area is near Spruill and McMillan avenues.

The man had fled by the time officers arrived but was found hiding behind a house on Bexley Street, Pryor said. Graham was arrested and taken to the Charleston County jail.

The woman was taken by EMS to Medical University Hospital.
