A North Charleston man was stabbed in the back of the neck on Monday afternoon. Police arrested William Anthony Green, 46, and charged him with attempted murder.

Green jumped out of the passenger side of a car traveling on Madden Drive and chased 46-year-old John Singleton down the street at 1:26 p.m., according to an incident report.

Singleton fell while running and was stabbed in the back of his neck, the report stated. Green then got back into the vehicle and left the scene, police said.

Singleton had a six-inch cut on the back of his neck and bled heavily, according to police. Singleton’s girlfriend told police that a family member had called them to warn them, according to the report.

They were told the man known as “Black” was on his way to them to deal with Singleton, the report stated. Singleton then left his home to find “Black” and find out what was going on, the report stated. That’s when the alleged attack occurred, according to police.
