A North Charleston man is behind bars after his brother said he shot him Wednesday night.

Joshua Rashad Scott, 22, of Yale Drive is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

North Charleston police were called to the apartment complex on Ridgebrook Avenue around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to the incident report. The area is off Dorchester Road across from Lambs Elementary School.

A 27-year-old man was lying in a driveway with gunshot wounds to his lower throat and left forearm, with several people holding towels to his chest, police said. He told officers his brother, Joshua Scott, shot him, according the report.

Witnesses told police they saw Scott fleeing on a bicycle. Scott was later spotted in the complex on a bicycle and arrested.

Officers said they found a black 9 mm Ruger handgun in his right front shorts pocket.

He is being held in the Charleston County jail.

Joshua Scott was arrested in December 2012 for illegal possession of a weapon, pleaded guilty and was credited with 454 days in jail, according to Charleston County court records.
