A 48-year-old man is accused of robbing an acquaintance at knifepoint Sunday to get money for beer, North Charleston police said.

Robert Lee Griffin of Apache Street is charged with armed robbery. He is being held at the Charleston County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A 46-year-old homeless man told police he was robbed by Griffin after they went to his apartment to chat. The man said Griffin came at him with two kitchen knives after the man refused to hand over his last $9 so Griffin could buy beer, according a police report.

A witness told police Griffin demanded that the victim hand over some money owed to him, but that Griffin did not point the blade at the man in a threatening manner, a police report.
