North Charleston police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old man accused of pointing a pistol at his sister’s head during an argument.

Desmond Skinner, of Ferrara Drive in North Charleston, is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm and unlawful carrying of a pistol, an incident report states.

Officers were dispatched Sunday night to a Ferrara Drive home concerning a fight involving a firearm, according to the report.

Witnesses told officers that Skinner got into an argument with his 19-year-old sister and pointed a gun at the woman’s head.

The suspect ran from the home before officers arrived, according to the incident report.

Officers searched the area and found the suspect and the pistol hidden on Woodlawn Avenue, police said.

Skinner admitted that the pistol was his, but denied pointing it at his sister, the report states. He told officers that he found the weapon about six months ago and that he carried it for protection.

Skinner is being held at the Charleston County jail, jail records show.
