A family of seven was forced out of their home Monday after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. on O’Hear Avenue near Hunter Street. North Charleston and Charleston firefighters responded.
The blaze was held to the kitchen, but smoke damaged the rest of the single-story house, North Charleston Fire Department spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
Red Cross volunteers were assisting the family.
