North Charleston car dealer sentenced for laundering drug money

A North Charleston car dealer has been sentenced to a year and a day for laundering drug money, according to the U.S. Attorney General’s Office.

John Nick, 60, of Huger owned and operated Nick’s Auto Sales at 4154 Rivers Ave. From 2008 to 2010, he sold five cars to drug dealers and then covered up the transactions so the cars couldn’t be seized in drug busts, according to prosecutors.

Agents with the Internal Revenue Service investigated, Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Klumb prosecuted and U.S. District Judge Patrick Michael Duffy imposed the sentence.
