The nonprofit aimed at ending the cycle of poverty in a 5.6 square mile area of Charleston County has received contributions from two local companies.

The Boeing Company is giving the Charleston Promise Neighborhood $200,000 to be used to enhance school leadership performance and improve teacher quality. MeadWestvaco Corp. will contribute $75,000 commitment over the next three years to support its work in improving education, healthcare and community engagement.

The Charleston Promise Neighborhood serves four schools, Mary Ford Elementary, Chicora School of Communications, James Simons Elementary, and Sanders-Clyde Creative Arts School, and its goal is to create a seamless continuum of wrap-around prenatal-to-college services.
