The cities of Charleston and North Charleston have announced plans for National Night Out on Aug. 4.
Charleston will hold its anti-crime rally from 6-8 p.m in Riley Park. There will be live music, food, games, police vehicles and neighborhood police officers.
The North Charleston rally will be in Park Circle. The event, which includes a community walk around the circle, is from 6-8 p.m. The circle will be closed to traffic from 6-7 p.m.
Police and fire departments, Charleston County Aviation Authority, Medical University of South Carolina Public Safety and the S.C. Highway Patrol will display vehicles. The event also includes a K-9 demonstration by Hanahan police, a bike rodeo by MUSC, face painting, jump castles, a rock wall for kids to climb, bicycle and gift card giveaways from Target, and food and drinks.
The cities are among about 70 communities around the state holding events, according to the national organization’s website.
