NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Regulators in North Myrtle Beach have again turned down a request by a company to begin a helicopter tour business.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that city’s board of zoning and appeals on Thursday again rejected a proposal by Myrtle Beach Helicopter Tours. The company’s owner also runs a helicopter tour company in Orlando, Florida.

Earlier this year the board rejected a company application to have the helicopters take off from along U.S. 17.

About 150 residents crowded Thursday’s meeting to oppose the helicopter tour idea, saying they worried about property values and noise.

Company representatives say they will continue working to establish a helicopter tour company somewhere in the city.
