North Charleston is looking for a new artist-in-residence, who will earn $20 an hour working part-time over the next year with children in city schools, and conducting workshops and demonstrations with community groups and at recreational centers.

Each year the city hires a new professional visual artist for the position. The 2012-13 artist-in-residence, Charleston native Kristy Bishop, is known for the large abstract works she creates from small pieces of hand-dyed silk, some of which are displayed at City Hall.

Local professional visual artists interested in being the 2013-14 artist-in-residence can apply by July 17 by submitting slides, quality photographs, or digital images of their work along with a current resume to or by mail to Nancy Rodriguez at: City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department, PO Box 190016, North Charleston, SC, 29419-9016.
