Murder victims of the Lowcountry will be honored locally on Wednesday, the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.

More than 100 members of the Survivors of Homicide Support Group will hold a ceremony at the Lonnie Hamilton Public Service Building at 4045 Bridge View Drive in North Charleston in the North Charleston City Council chambers.

The homicide support group is a collaborative program between the Charleston County Sheriff’s office of Victim Assistance and the Medical University of South Carolina Crime Victims Center.

The ceremony, which will take place at 6:30 p.m., will honor those killed and to recognize the impact on surviving family members and loved ones, according to the organization.

The public is invited to attend and the group encourages anyone who has lost a loved one to homicide, including traffic-related homicide, to attend as well.
