Three Mount Pleasant police officers rescued a baby deer Sunday that was wrapped up in some briars on the side of Rifle Range Road.

Cpl. Joe Zeitner, Pfc. Brandon Kittle and officer Thad Morgan cut the deer free of the briars, wrapped it in a blanket and took it to Veterinary Specialty Care on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. It was believed to have a broken left leg, according to a Wednesday media release from the police department.

The deer has since been released and is now recovering at a wildlife rehabilitation facility.
