MOUNT PLEASANT — Sponsoring a baseball team, playing tennis and participating in a swimming program could become a bit more expensive, as the town is expected to raise fees across the board for its recreation programs.

Town Council’s Recreation Committee reviewed proposed fee increases, which ranged from as little as $5 for some programs to as much as $25 for a town senior center membership. The cost of the town’s Mom’s Morning Out program would rise $15, and there would be a new $5 administrative fee tacked onto most town recreation fees.

Committee members voiced support for the increases but asked Recreation Director Ken Ayoub to consider whether any of the fees could be increased by even more.

All increases would help the town offset its deficit between what it costs to run recreation and how much money those programs bring in. The fee increases would raise about $170,000 more per year, with about $130,000 going to the town and $40,000 to recreation instructors.
